I finally got my Sigma 17-70mm last week, and I took it for a very thorough test drive yesterday afternoon. I'm pretty impressed with it's performance. The focal speed is excellent, I can get as close as 2cm from the subject, it's beautifully sharp, and being able to go wider than f4.5 is bloody brilliant.
I found this tree down by the lake as the sun was setting, and I just couldn't get enough of that golden light on the dust of these pods. Managed to get that dust all over my brand new lens too, but hey, what's a test drive without a few mishaps?!
Tweaks: I increased the blue in the shadows and sharpened slightly after compressing to jpg and decreasing the resolution.
I'd love to hear what you think. If you have a favourite out of the three images, please tell me which it is.
I think that all three are strong vivid images and could stand by themselves but the combination of them is what really attracted me here...
Excellent photos!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Colors and light are great. I really like the shapes in the center one as well. And they work quite good together as they are.
Excellent photos!
